Wells Mountain Undergraduate Scholarship for Developing Countries 2013

The Wells Mountain Foundation, a public charitable foundation based in Bristol, Vermont, USA, calls for application from undergraduates in developing countries into its 2013 scholarship programme.
The purpose of the Foundation is primarily to support programs and individuals in developing nations or other situations of extreme poverty.
Each year the Foundation’s Empowerment Through Education program provides support to students as they pursue various educational objectives. Support is provided for post-secondary school (college, university, polytechnic, trade school).
 


Specifications
  • The plan is that by providing the opportunity to further one’s education, the scholarship participants will not only be able to improve their own future, but also that of their own communities. The foundation believes in the power and importance of community service and, as a result, all scholarship participants are required to volunteer for a minimum of one month a year

About Scholarship: Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) is currently opening the 2013 international scholarship program, Higher. The TaiwanICDF provides scholarships for higher education and has developed undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs in cooperation with renowned partner universities in Taiwan.

-Be able to satisfy all requirements for a Resident Visa (Code: FS) set by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) set by the Ministry of the Interior, of the ROC (Taiwan) government (this means that the TaiwanICDF has the right to revoke a scholarship offered if an applicant cannot satisfy the visa requirements).
-Upon accepting a TaiwanICDF scholarship, not hold any other ROC(Taiwan) government-sponsored scholarship (such as the Taiwan Scholarship) in the same academic year in which the Taiwan ICDF scholarship would be due to commence.
-Not be applying for a further TaiwanICDF scholarship in unbroken succession — applicants who have already held a TaiwanICDF scholarship must have returned to their home country for more than one year before re-applying (note: to apply for a 2013 scholarship, an applicant must have graduated and returned to his or her home country before July 31, 2012).
-Have never had any scholarship revoked by any ROC (Taiwan) government agency or related institution, nor been expelled from any Taiwanese university.

Subjects Covered by the Master Scholarships
Motivated and talented international students interested in participating in an international master programme of the Faculty of Science of the KU Leuven are invited to apply for a scholarship.
For the following masters you can apply for the Scholarship:

Scholarship value
The amount of the scholarship can be up to 8.000 Euro for 1 year. The Board of the Science@Leuven Fund will decide exactly how much a scholarship will be. The scholarship will always cover the tuition fee for 1 year, the insurance and basic health insurance coverage. The amount awarded for living expenses can vary. 
If a student is awarded the full scholarship of 8.000 Euro, it is still advisable to bring some extra money.  The expenses for a full year at the KU Leuven is estimated to be about 9.000 euro.
Most master programmes of the Faculty of Science are 2-year programmes. The scholarship for the second master year will be only be continued for students having had outstanding results the first master year.

·         The applicants have not studied or worked at the University of Leuven before,

2013 Chinese Government Scholarship-University Postgraduate Study Program, Ocean University of China

Chinese Government Scholarship scheme is established to provide full scholarship to international students. The applicants shall apply to Ocean University of China undertaking this program within the set period. The application period is from January to March.

Categories of Applicants and Duration of Scholarship
The scholarship durations are 2-3 years for master degree student and 3-4 years for doctor degree students beginning in the September each year and ending in July.
In principle, the courses will be taught in Chinese. Scholarship students are required to take one-year remedial Chinese language course and pass the examinations prior to the major study if their Chinese language level is not qualified. If students take one-year Chinese language course, the duration of the scholarship will be extended for one year.
Some courses can be taught in English.
Duration for scholarship specified at the time of admission can NOT be extended in principle.
Details of the Scholarship
Full scholarship:
Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus;
Living allowance:
One-off settlement subsidy after registration;
Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China.
Note:
1)      Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship that beyond the university’s arrangements should be afforded by the student himself.
2)      Fee for basic learning materials covers the necessary learning materials prescribed by the host institution, and other materials shall be self afforded.
3)      Monthly living allowance is paid to the students by the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
Master degree students: CNY 1,700 Yuan
Doctoral degree students: CNY 2,000 Yuan
4)      New students will get one-off settlement subsidy upon arrival in China.
CNY 1,000 Yuan for new students who will study in China up to six months
CNY 1,500 Yuan for new students who will study in China for one academic year or more
5)      Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is provided by MOE for the scholarship students in China against hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental injuries. The institutions or the appointed medical assistance agency provide advancement service for insurance expenses, and claim for compensation with relevant payment receipts from the insurance company according to the stipulated insurance articles. The claim of individual student will not be accepted by the insurance company.
6)      International travel expenses: self-afforded.

Specifications
Selected fellows will work with faculty research directors Loren Landau (Political Science and Sociology, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg) and Stephen Lubkemann (Anthropology and International Affairs, George Washington University) to enhance their dissertation research plans within this area of study through participation in two workshops: * The Spring Workshop will be held May 19-24, 2013 in Washington, DC * The Fall Workshop will be held September 25-29, 2013 on the campus of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Worth of Awards
The DPDF program covers necessary costs for workshop participation and up to $5,000 for summer research. Fellows’ attendance at both workshops is mandatory. Fellows attend workshops in the spring and fall of the fellowship cycle, which provide a framework for dissertation research and guide dissertation research plans. In the summer months between workshops, DPDF fellows carry out exploratory field research on their topics to evaluate issues of feasibility and methods of investigation.

STEP 1
  • REGISTER your Passport Number or National Identication Number, password and email address.
  • LOG IN to online application form and fill in all section completely.
  • Please ensure all informations are correct before you print the application and logout.
STEP 2
  • Please attach printed application form together with the following documents:
    1. Recent passport size photograph.
    2. Completed Medical Report.
    3. A certified copy of current passport showing evidence of citizenship.
    4. A certified copy of academic transcript, testimonials and/or references relating to the relevant study, co-curriculum activities, achievements.
    5. A clear and precise study or research plan
    6. A certified copy of English Language proficiency certificate (Test of English as a Foreign Language/TOEFL or International English Language Testing Service/IELTS)
    7. Curriculum Vitae.
    8. Admission letter from Malaysian University.
    9. Two letters of recommendation from two (2) people who can act as referees to support your application.
    10. Endorsement Form.
  • You are required to complete the two Letters of Recommendation from two referees, Endorsement Form and Medical Report. Important Notes:
  1. Scholarship holder must undertake full-time studies for postgraduate and post-doctoral studies at a campus of Malaysian Universities. It is the responsibility of the scholarship holders to confirm admission to the university.
  2. Scholarship holders must not change their programme during tenure of the scholarship except with written permission from their university and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
  3. Scholarship holders must follow the approved programmes and abide by the university’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
  4. Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of award. Monthly allowances are not payable during suspension, including suspension due to illness.
  5. It is the responsibility of successful candidates to apply for and meet the requirements for the issuing of an appropriate entry visa including medical examination. The offer of the scholarship does not guarantee the granting of a visa.
  6. Scholarship holders must maintain satisfactory progress and good standing as stipulated by their host university and degree programme, or the scholarship will be withdrawn.
  7. The scholarships are tenable in Malaysian universities and research must be carried out in Malaysia.

About Scholarship
The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brain from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to support Malaysian Government’s effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.
