SWITZERLAND UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TANZANIANS 2012/2013

Switzerland is offering a limited number of university scholarships to Tanzanian students for the academic year 2012/2013 for studies at one of Switzerland's 10 Universities and 2 Federal Institutes of Technology. The documents for the application are available for download here

The university scholarships are intended for post-graduate students only, with as special emphasis put on Research Fellowships. Applicants who already hold a Master degree and wish to undertake a second (or 3rd) Master degree are not considered a priority for the Swiss Government Scholarships. Multiplying the Master degrees will not be encouraged by the Federal Commission for Scholarships (FCS). Besides, please be aware that for Master programs, the FCS does not pay for Master tuition fees.

Candidates should not be older than 35 years (i.e. born after 1 January 1977). 

Before applying, you must find out whether your planned study program or research project can be carried out at the university concerned. For Research fellowships, the applicant must contact a Professor in Switzerland willing to supervise his research project. A copy of this contact must imperatively be part of the application package. Should this contact not be made, the Swiss Embassy will reject the candidature. For Master programs, the applicant must, at the same time he applies for the Swiss Government Scholarship, apply for the chosen Master program. The two procedures are separate ones and the applicant must undertake both procedures.

For Master programs, the applicant has to be proficient in the teaching language in order to be eligible for a Swiss Government Scholarship and must provide the relevant language certificate with the application package. If the teaching language at your chosen university in Switzerland is English, and you have completed your bachelor cursus in English, a letter from the university confirming this will be sufficient.

It is essential that you fill in the application forms electronically and print them out to attach to your file. Forms filled in by hand will not be accepted.

Each application form and all the annexed documents required have to be sent in triplicate in the given order (see p. 12 of Application Guidelines). The complete application files should be submitted to the Embassy not later than 29 December 2011.All documents which are not in English, German or French must be accompanied by certified translations in one of these 3 languages.


Important: Please carefully read the Application guidelines. These guidelines outline all the important information and requirements to prepare a good application.Applications will not be taken into consideration if they are in one of the following situations:

• The application is incomplete, does not respect the guidelines or is badly prepared
• The applicant is older than 35 (born prior to 1.1.1977)
• Applications for 2 or more Universities. Applicants must apply for only 1 University
• The applicant is already attending the first year of a Master Program in one of the Swiss Universities. Students already embarked in a Master program in one of the Swiss Universities are not eligible for a Swiss Government Scholarship.
• Language certificate (or letter from the university confirming proficiency in English) is missing
• The applicant is required to attend a complementary program or to catch up ECTS credits in

Westminster International Scholarships for Developing Countries

Amount:	Full tuition fee waivers, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.
Eligibility:	You must be an international student from a developing country and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree.
Criteria:	Academic excellence, development potential and financial need.
Deadline:	31 May 2012

These generous awards are aimed at fully funding you if you are from a developing country and will study a full-time Masters degree at the University. Particular preference will be given to you if you can demonstrate how the knowledge you acquire from your studies will aid the development of your own country.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for Developing Countries

Brief description: 

The European union offers fully-funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for Masters and Doctorate Programmes to students from Developing Countries(Apply Here)

Field(s) of Study:

For 2013-2014, about 139 Masters courses and 43 Joint Doctorate courses are supported by scholarships. The field(s) of study covered are: Agriculture and Veterinary, Engineering, Manufacture and Construction, Health and Welfare, Humanities and Arts, Science, Mathematics and Computing, and Social Sciences, Business and Law.

Number of Awards:

From the period of 2009-2013,  about 5,300 Masters students and 440 Doctoral students from developing countries will be awarded with an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

Target group:

Students from developing/emerging countries who do not come from the 27 Member States of the EU and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these countries.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

The programme offers full-time scholarships and/or fellowships that cover the living costs, tuition fees, travelling and insurance costs of the students.

Scholarship amounts can vary according to the level of studies/teaching/research, their duration (3 months to 3 years) and the grantee’s nationality (scholarships for non-EU individuals are higher than for EU individuals).

For the academic year 2013/2014 you are advised to consult in advance the websites of each of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Programmes (Masters/Doctorates) that interest you. There you will find all necessary information concerning the content of the course, its structure, the scholarship amounts as well as the application and selection procedures. Deadline varies from program to program.  The deadline varies per programme but is around October to January annually.

UoPeople Scholarships September 2012

UoPeople Scholarships September 2012 is the globe's tuition-free, non-profit, online academic organization devoted to starting entry to college worldwide. Based on the concepts of e-learning and peer-to-peer studying, in addition to open-source technology and Start Educational Resources, UoPeople is designed to provide entry to undergrad level programs for qualified individuals, despite financial, regional or social restrictions.

UoPeople offers Affiliate and Bachelor's Degree Programs in Business Administration and Computer Science.

Scholarship value:

University of the People is a tuition-free  online university offering distance-learning programs. School of the People is a tuition-free, non-profit organization. The School does not cost learners to take sessions, does not cost for any reading and other research materials, as well as does not cost for yearly registration.

However, to be able to remain maintainable, candidates are charged a non-refundable once $10-$50 Program Handling Fee to cover the cost for us to review and procedure software.  In September 2012, when new application popularity will re-open, the School will be presenting an Examination Handling Fee of $100 per end-of-course exam. Applicants who implement starting in September and become learners, are expected to pay this fee.

However, for those those who are unable to do so, UoPeople will have a Micro-Scholarship Website that will enable contributors to play a role directly to individual learners in need of assistance. Additionally, learners may implement for a UoPeople grant.

Eligibility:

UoPeople allows anyone who has finished secondary school, has entry to a pc and the Online and has sufficient British skills to finish the English-only programs. Applicants need to finish the applying requirements and go through software to be able to be approved into the program.

The entrance procedure is applied in 5 terms yearly.  The School of the People is currently not recognizing new programs until September 2012. Please look on their formal web page around now.  In September, all new candidates can implement.    Applicants should follow a 5-step application.
